Frequently asked questions

Who is eligible to apply?

Anyone with a degree in any subject from a recognised university with a minimum of 50% marks.

Which percentage is used – Part III or the whole degree?

The total percentage of Part III is used. If your mark list or grade card does not show Part III marks separately, the overall aggregate percentage of your degree is used for eligibility and ranking.

How is the Psychology weightage calculated?

You get 5 marks for each Psychology paper you studied in any graduate or postgraduate degree, up to a maximum of 40 marks. Only papers shown on the mark lists you upload are counted.

Can I apply to both colleges?

Yes. Tick both colleges in the application form. Each college conducts its own entrance test and interview and publishes its own rank list, so attend the test at each college you choose.

How is the rank list prepared?

Rank score = degree percentage + Psychology weightage (max 40) + entrance test and interview marks (max 100). Seats are then allotted according to the reservation rules: Open Quota (Merit) first, then each community quota. EWS seats are over and above the intake.

What is in the entrance test?

A one-hour written test: 30 objective questions on counselling / human behaviour, 20 on general mental ability and 10 on social awareness (1 mark each), plus descriptive questions for 20 marks. The interview carries 20 marks.

Are there seats over and above the intake?

Yes. EWS: 10% additional seats. Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): 5% additional seats for candidates with at least 40% certified permanent disability under the RPwD Act, 2016; upload the permanent disability certificate issued by a District Medical Board or higher authority. PwBD seats are allotted on rank in the inter-se merit list and physical suitability, not on the degree of disability.

How do I claim reservation?

Declare every reservation claim in the online application – claims cannot be added or changed later, even if documents are produced at admission. SC / ST / OEC: community certificate from the Kerala Revenue Authority. SEBC (ETB / MU / LC / OBX / OBH): community certificate and non-creamy layer certificate. EWS (General category only – candidates eligible for SC, ST, SEBC or OEC reservation cannot claim EWS): AAY / PHH certificate or the Income and Assets certificate from the Village Officer. Claims without a valid certificate are treated as General. Submitting a false SC / ST certificate leads to penal action.

Do SC / ST / OEC candidates pay fees?

SC / ST candidates allotted seats (under reservation or on merit) are exempt from tuition and admission fees. OEC candidates are exempt from payment of fees at the time of allotment on producing proof of community. Candidates from the 30 OBC communities eligible for OEC educational assistance must have an annual family income of up to ₹8 lakh (income certificate valid for one year).

Can I edit my application after submitting it?

No, the form is locked after submission. If there is a mistake, contact the admissions office. If needed, your application can be returned to you for correction while applications are open.

What happens to unfilled reserved seats?

Vacant SC seats go to ST candidates and vacant ST seats to SC candidates. Seats still vacant are re-notified by the University and a special allotment is held; after that, vacant SC / ST seats go to OEC candidates, then SEBC candidates, and then General merit. Unfilled SEBC seats go to General merit.
